Friends of Laurie Lee Kellogg - Victim of Unjust Incarceration
Laurie with writers Rick Kern & Denise Lindross

Dear friends:

Laurie receives countless e-mails and letters from concerned people who can see through the spin into her kind and beautiful soul. While there are a few negative notes, the vast majority of people are deeply troubled by the glaring injustice inflicted upon her, especially in light of the way she has suffered most of her life.

We thought it would inspire you to share in the outpouring of goodwill and thus offer a small portion of the e-mails she receives, and we get on her behalf.

Dear Laurie,
I first heard about your story by watching the made for TV movie and it really touched my heart.  I am sure that the movie did not give your side of the events the full story and that is a shame.  I myself have had to deal with the unfair and biased justice system when my sister got into a situation dealing with a man that she loved and trusted.

In fact it made national news headlines--the Matthew Sheppard Murder in Laramie, Wyoming.  There was a made for TV movie about the incident and events leading up to the murder and it sickened me and my family that the facts were not all there and they made my sister seem like a "low class and white trash" individual--which nothing could be further from the truth.

Yes...my sister did some things to protect the man she loved, which she later found out was a man that cheated on her numerous times and was heavily into drugs--depleting their checking account to feed his habit as she was working hard and saving up money for her tuition for her next semester at school.

I can not imagine the pain and injustice you have encountered due to our justice system that is flawed in so many areas.  All I can hope for you is to continue on as you have and find strength from your heart and the courage you have had to have to get you by.  Please feel free to contact me if you ever need someone to talk to.  I admire your bravery in such a messed up world!!!!

Best Wishes and God Bless You!!!!
Sincerely,
Angela Sams

Hello, my name is Jennifer Young.  I feel that Laurie is suffering a great injustice by our "justice" system.  I feel that she deserves to be free and to live a happy life free from abuse of any kind.  I saw the news story listed below on-line and wondered if it may be able to help her.

At this moment I am watching your movie on lifetime. I think that Laurie couldn't of have murdered or convinced someone to murder any body. she seems like such a nice person. She was abused and molested and hearing that her husband molested some of her babysitting kids problaly set her over the edge. I'm still in school and must be smarter than the judge. Also I heard that the judge and prosecuting lawyer were under reelection. I personally don't think she be in jail.

To whom it may concern,
Unfortunately I don't have any money to help your cause at this time, but if there is anything that I can do otherwise, I would certainly be more than happy to help. I have Laurie's mailing address and I am going to begin writing to her to possibly lend her some moral support. I do believe she got a raw deal, this woman has no business in prison. I too was a victim of domestic violence. I feel for everyone involved in this case. Again, anything that I can do to help please let me know.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Achstein

Hello,
I would like to help out in any way that I can for the defense of the wrongfully accused Laurie Kellogg. What can I do? I reside in the Bucks County, PA. area. I watched the movie last night on Lifetime TV and it prompted me to look up this case.

Please let me know if I can be of assistance in any way.

Thank you!!
Darlene Bellamy

I have watched for the 2nd or 3rd time the Laurie Kellogg Story on Lifetime. I was curious if she was able to get another trial. It as disconcerting to read that the some of the other individuals who were in the car will not come to her defense. However, now that they are released from prison, I hope they will show her support. After reading several websites, I found a website that talked about the massive abuse she received while with Bruce Kellogg. Did the jury not hear about all the broken bones and not even take that into account.

This man was a monster, he abused the children from his first marriage, and marriage to Laurie, molested her friends. What I don't understand is as abusive he was to her, why did she drive up to the cabin. Why didn't she turn back. Because of all his abuse, I would think she would have feared her life. Bruce Kellogg controlled her life from the time they met. In the movie, I don't know how accurate it is but Bruce paid the family $500 to keep her in New York. It's also unfortunate that she did not have a strong attorney defending her, which hurt her chances of being found not guilty.

From what I am reading their is also a political struggle at the prison which is holding any type of support for Laurie. It seems like a conspiracy the keep her in prison for the rest of her life. Is she eligible for parole in 25 years. I hope that she will be granted a new trial. Have you considered contacting Dateline about her story. Perhaps if she gets a new trial they may be interested.

I don't understand in today's society with the events that took place that with her state of mind and the testimony and with the abuse that Laurie is still in jail. What is wrong with the judicial system and who do I need to write or speak to on Laurie's behalf?

Hello,
My name is Stacey and I believe that Laurie shouldn't be in prison. I was once abused and I know what it can do to you. I did leave the one that did abuse me, but not all women can do that. I just hope that she will get out of prison. She didn't kill him someone else did. So why has she been in prison for that long of a time. I don't understand.. I am sorry that Laurie had to go through that pain. I hope that she gets out soon, she didn't need to be in prison as long as she has been.

Thanks,
Stacey from Virginia

Hi,
I think that this site is wonderful! I think that Laurie did not derserve the injustice she received. It makes my blood boil to know that a person like her is spending time behind bars.  What that disgusting creature did to her is beyond belief.

I don't have much money to help, but I am a believer in her. I watched the tv movie and had to do research on her and her case. I felt so close to her and would love for her to know that she has supporters of people who believe in her.

Would she receive my letter if I write her?

Wishing for her freedom,
Lisa Torres

HI,
I just recently came across this story on the web, and to me the fact that she was convicted just makes me sick. That man deserved to die. People that act like that should not be free people. She should not be incarcerated. I am never the type of person to get involved in things like this but This situation disgusts me.

I would like to make a donation, and would like the address to send it to.
I will not be able to make a large donation because I am a working mother of 3 girls, but hopefully the small donation I can make will help.

Thank you for your time.
